A fun, FREE group for those who love to do mixed-media and altered art. We will have some free tutorials/videos on occasion, share ideas & have some challenges. Share your work!
What is mixed media?
When you hear mixed media you may immediately get a vision of what it is. However I am hoping to expand that idea. Mixed Media is ANY art that uses more than one type of media – ink & paint, paper & fabric, collage, found objects – it is just a mixture of different items when creating your piece. It can be gothic, steampunk, bright & happy, dark and brooding, bizarre, controlled, free – it is whatever YOU make it.
That being said, you do have to know HOW to use all those different things and the best way is through experimentation. That is what we will be doing here in this group. There are so many incredible, fun products out there to use. Some of my personal favorites are from Ranger, Viva Décor, Crafters Workshop Stencils, & Golden.

**Challenges**
Your final project can be anything – an ATC for those who want to start small, a piece for a card, a journal page, a piece to hang on the wall – whatever you are comfortable with or suits what you want to do with it. Sometimes we will make background pieces, sometimes we might make something WITH one of our previous background pieces. Your final project must always use different types of media in order to qualify. Challenges will run for 2 weeks and new challenges will be posted on Mondays.
Challenge #5 runs April 29th through May 13th
Incorporate some texture/dimension in your project - this does NOT include using foam tape on something! use chunky glitters, microbeads, bead gel (great colored ones from viva decor are available as well as a clear one from liquitex which you can spray or ink when dry.)
i will have a sample up soon!
Now let's see what YOU can do!

Comment by Lisa (ThePurplePlace) yesterday Just wanted to tell you all how much FUN I had in Baltimore and what a JOY it was to meet Marti and take her Mixed Media Class! We had a lot of laughs and I learned so many great things too! I also took Suzanne's Advanced Copic Class and loved every minute.
Hoping that once Marti is done with her Scan and hopefully a quick and easy, (Laparoscopic) Gallbladder surgery to remove that nasty Gallbladder, that she'll be back to keep things hopping here!
I loved all the awesome new techniques we learned from her and have already placed an order with Susana (SCACD) for some new goodies so that I can continue to use my new skills! Looking forward to sharing some new things with you all very soon!
Comment by Anita Autore on May 16, 2012 at 10:21pm I feel for you Marti. I hope things move sooner for you.
Patricia, I so wish the same thing with Docs.
I still have my GB because the test didn't show a problem. Luckily I haven't had a problem since.
Comment by the PaperTemptress on May 16, 2012 at 9:52pm Mid June, that sucks, honestly my GB surgery was the easiest surgery I have had but then again I have had a dozen or so so what was pretty easy for me may not count! But it really isn't that bad but then again I didn't have an active child to take care of either! I am sure that makes a BIG DIFFERENCE! You will probably only be down for 1 - 2 days. I don't think there is anything you can do to prevent attacks either. Not sure if you should wait 1 month or not if it is that bad and painful. Your Dr can tell you better than I can but he doesn't live in the pain! I have often wished I could just pass on my pain to Dr's for just one minute, then maybe they would understand better KWIM?????
Marty, Something like what you have is going to take a long time to get over. I'm so sorry you are down again. Maybe your GB should come out and then things will not be so hard, what does your doctor say?
not much patricia :( just got back from a long road trip and then promptly had another attack. but at least i didn't have one on the road. doc ordered a hida scan today so i have to schedule that for next week. then if i have it out i have to wait until mid june so my mom can come help me with pezza and stuff.
Thought I would stop by and see if anything is going on.
Comment by Anita Autore on May 13, 2012 at 2:38pm I love all the projects. I almost forgot to link mine. I used Liquid pearls for my texture.
Comment by Julia Vazquez on May 5, 2012 at 1:24am Just posted my creation, hope you like it!
patricia - yes it was because at the time my liver was in bad shape. but now my liver is strong so i am thinking the GB may need to come out now
heading to the vet with second kitten. looks like the same thing but perhaps we can catch it earlier and know what we are dealing with
Comment by Anita Autore on May 1, 2012 at 11:03am Marti, sending hugs! I saw your post on FB. Great digis! Thanks!
Patricia, that would be a blast to go to the class.
Lisa, enjoy your trip.
I am going to make something for this challenge just trying to find my mojo.
