Cathi LaPointe of "Designs by Cathi"

Hi! My name is Cathi and I am a single mom of one from Bethlehem, PA. I was introduced to card making through a Cricut purchase last December.  I made my first card and as they say, the rest was history. Shortly after, I discovered the fabulous blogging community and decided to join in the fun. I kept reading about Copics, and came across Suzanne Dean on YouTube and then her Color Me Creative Classroom, of which I am one of her students. Thank you for the opportunity of serving as this week's Guest Designer. It is a wonderful site and I feel truly honored!

Hi Girls -- Had a great time in Baltimore and was especially happy to FINALLY meet Suzanne and have the chance to take a class in person!!  I also met Marti and took her Mixed Media class which was awesome.  We all had a great weekend and I was thrilled to be part of it!   Everyone was fabulous, super friendly and we all had a great time.   My thanks to Suzanne and Marti for being part of the fun!    I can't wait to go again next year!  WOOHOOO!!

I don't soak mine ever...I dip them when needed a few times...but I keep first-aid alcohol wipes (box of 100 at Target for $5) and I wipe them when needed which reduces any build up but if they need more than a wipe I dip them a couple of times and take them out quickly.  Yes you can smack the table with emphasis and then they will SURELY want to smack the crap outta me LOL

Comment by Andrea Murdock on Tuesday

Can I smack the table with my hand for emphasis when I yell that Suzanne? hee hee!!!! I think they only need like 10mins of soaking...but I have never done it. So SUZANNE..our all mighty knowledge of all things Copic...how long do you usually let yours soak for?

Comment by Suzanne Dean on Tuesday

After awhile you will notice that no amount of cleaning can help them anymore...at that point replace your nibs ok.  If anyone tells you to soak the nibs overnight in a bag/bowl of rubbing alchohol...DO NOT DO THAT.  Its too acidic and it will break down the integrity of the nibs and they will fall apart.  And tell 'em Suzanne said NO LOL!

Comment by Dana Joy on Tuesday
Well you ladies have made my day. I just purchased some nibs for my Copics. NO MORE!! I have alcohol in the house and will be using that. Well not my Vodka but my rubbing alcohol. ;-)
Comment by Sharon (APieceOfHeart) on Tuesday

Thanks, Suzanne and Patricia for answering my question.  I really appreciate your help.

Comment by Stephanie Lee on Tuesday

awesome tip Suzanne!! I have been using blender solution too and now I know!!

Comment by Andrea Murdock on Tuesday

I love that Suzanne!!! Another great money saving tip! More money to spend on crafty supplies then hee hee

Comment by Suzanne Dean on Tuesday

Don't use blender solution though, save that for your markers.  Use rubbing alcohol instead...its cheaper and will do the same job for ya!

Comment by Patricia St Martin on Tuesday

That is a great tip Andrea and it does work.
